The first five in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 poll remained unchanged on Monday but a pair of teams plummeted out of the top 10 and the Big Ten showed its power.
Gonzaga (22-0) earned 60 first-place votes to remain No. 1, followed by Baylor (17-0) with four votes. The Bears are set to face Iowa State on Tuesday in their first game since Feb. 2. Six games on their schedule were postponed because of the Big 12's COVID-19 protocols.
Rounding out the Top 5 were Michigan (16-1), Ohio State (18-5) and Illinois (16-5). Another Big Ten team, Iowa (17-6), rose two spots to No. 9 to become the fourth Top 10 program from the league.
The rest of the Top 10 features programs that each rose at least two spots. Alabama (18-5) came in at No. 6, followed by Oklahoma (14-5), Villanova (14-3), the Hawkeyes and West Virginia (15-6).
Taking a sharp fall out of the Top 10 were No. 12 Houston (18-3), which fell six spots after a 68-63 loss to Wichita State on Tuesday, and No. 15 Virginia (15-5). The Cavaliers dropped eight places after losses to Florida State and Duke.
It was a good week for the Seminoles (13-3), who rose five spots to No. 11.
No new teams entered the Top 25.
Perennial power Kansas (17-7), which had dropped out of the poll earlier this year, climbed six spots to No. 17. Tennessee (15-6) fell the same number of places to No. 25.
